Maybe you bought a new home with nothing but dirt and good intentions. Whatever brought you here, EA Proscapes specializes in exactly this kind of work — full landscape installations and complete backyard overhauls that take a yard from wherever it is now to exactly where you want it to be.
We’ve been doing this work in Longmont for over 20 years, and we’ve seen every kind of starting point. There is no yard too overgrown, too bare, or too far gone for our team to tackle.
What Is a Backyard Overhaul?
A backyard overhaul is a comprehensive transformation — not a patch job or a single upgrade, but a full rethinking and rebuilding of your outdoor space. It might involve removing existing vegetation, regrading the land for proper drainage, installing new hardscape features like patios or walkways, establishing new planting beds, putting in an irrigation system, and adding finishing touches like mulch, edging, and lighting.
The scope varies by property and by what the homeowner wants to achieve. Some overhauls focus primarily on function — fixing drainage issues, creating a usable outdoor living area, or making a yard easier to maintain. Others are driven by aesthetics — creating a landscape that reflects the homeowner’s style and complements the home’s architecture. Most are some combination of both.
Whatever your goals, EA Proscapes approaches every overhaul with the same process: assess, plan, execute, and review.
Our Installation Process
Step 1: Site Evaluation
Before we do anything, we evaluate the existing conditions of your yard. We look at grading and drainage, soil quality, what’s currently growing and whether any of it is worth keeping, utility locations, sun and shade patterns, and anything else that will affect how we approach the work.
Step 2: Design & Planning
Every installation project begins with a clear design. Working from our assessment and your goals, we develop a plan that covers layout, plant selection, hardscape placement, and irrigation. We review this plan with you before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect.
Step 3: Site Preparation
This is where the physical work starts. Depending on what the project requires, site prep might include removing existing turf or vegetation, grading the land, improving drainage, amending soil, or installing edging and borders. Getting this phase right is critical — it’s the foundation everything else is built on.
Step 4: Hardscape Installation
If your project includes patios, walkways, retaining walls, or other hardscape features, we install those before plants go in. Hardscape work requires proper base preparation, precise layout, and solid craftsmanship — elements our team has been delivering in Longmont for decades.
Step 5: Planting & Lawn Establishment
Once the hardscapes are in place, we install trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and ground covers according to the design plan. We select plants suited to Longmont’s climate and your specific site conditions, and we plant and mulch them to give them the strongest possible start.
If your project includes lawn areas, we establish those by seed or sod depending on the situation and your preference.
Step 6: Irrigation Installation
If your project includes an irrigation system, we install it during this phase. Our irrigation systems are designed to water each zone efficiently and are programmed to match the water needs of the plants in that zone.
Step 7: Final Walkthrough
When the work is complete, we walk the property with you. We want to make sure every detail meets your expectations, answer any questions you have about care and maintenance, and ensure you’re completely satisfied before we pack up and leave.
Built for Colorado
Every installation we complete is designed with Longmont’s climate in mind. That means drought-tolerant plant palettes where appropriate, proper grading to handle Colorado’s occasional heavy rain events, soil amendments suited to Front Range clay soils, and irrigation systems calibrated for efficiency.
We don’t install landscapes that look great for one season and struggle after that. We build for longevity — plants that establish and thrive, hardscapes that hold up through freeze-thaw cycles, and systems that function reliably year after year.
